Skywarn™ Recognition Day. SKYWARN Recognition Day is a holiday that's observed annually on the first Saturday in December to commemorate the contributions that SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service. It was created by the National Weather Service to recognize volunteer storm spotters who help keep track of severe weather across the country.
